Yuvraj Singh turned back the clock in spectacular fashion during the World Championship of Legends (WCL) semifinal against the Australia Champions on July 12. The former Indian all-rounder, batting at number four, put on a vintage display of power hitting. Yuvraj smashed a blistering 59 off just 25 balls, featuring four boundaries and five towering sixes at an astonishing strike rate of 210.71.
Yuvraj Singh’s explosive innings ended with a catch and bowl by Peter Siddle, but not before he had significantly boosted India’s total. Yuvraj’s stellar performance against Australia brought back memories of his prime.

Known for his heroics against the Aussies, Yuvraj famously scored 70 off 30 balls against them in the 2007 T20 World Cup and delivered a crucial unbeaten 57 off 65 balls in the 2011 World Cup quarter-final, guiding India to victory. In the WCL semifinal, Yuvraj once again demonstrated his class, helping India secure a place in the finals.

The WCL is a debut tournament featuring former players from various countries competing for the championship title in the T20 format. Teams from Australia, India, South Africa, England, Pakistan, and the West Indies participated in the league stages. India and Pakistan emerged as the finalists, with their clash set for July 13.
Despite winning four out of five league games, the Australia Champions faltered in the semifinal, losing to India by 86 runs. In the semifinal game, the Australia Champions won the toss and chose to bowl first at the County Ground in Northampton.

India posted a formidable target of 255, thanks to half-centuries from Robin Uthappa, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, and Irfan Pathan. In response, the Australian side could only muster 168 runs, with Dhawal Kulkarni and Pawan Negi taking two wickets each, ensuring India’s comprehensive victory.
