India women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur said that she was looking forward to India taking on Pakistan in the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup clash on Friday, July 19. However, Day 1 of the tournament will see the much-awaited clash unfold at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium in Dambulla. Notably, India have an 11-3 head-to-head record against Pakistan in WT20Is with their most recent win coming in the 2023 T20 World Cup at the Newlands in Cape Town as well.
Harmanpreet Kaur also said that while it’s important to focus on playing against Pakistan, they need to plan for the other matches as well. Apart from Pakistan, India will also play Nepal and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their group as well.
“We always enjoy playing against Pakistan but each and every team is important. Whenever we go and play, we always want to play good cricket, and we will follow the same method,” Harmanpreet Kaur said in the pre-match press conference.

The Indian skipper also said that the Asia Cup is the right platform for Team India to prepare for the T20 World Cup which will be played later this year in Bangladesh.
“This tournament is very important for all of us because we give equal respect to this tournament and want to improve at the Asian as well as at the world level. So our focus will remain the same as we prepare for the T20 World Cup or any other World Cup. Each and every game is important for us and we will try to give our best. The challenge will be to keep doing the right things which we have done in the past Asia Cups, keep playing the same type of cricket, and keep dominating other teams and enjoy our cricket,” Harmanpreet Kaur concluded.
