Conceived by Australian entrepreneurs Mark Sellar and Deke Smith, DRIVE FITT is primed to give a radical makeover to the way India exercises. The first two would be company-owned outlets with Gurgaon playing host to the first gym in October and Noida following suit in November. This company has grand plans for expansion wherein it hopes to have 300 franchises spread across the country in the next three years.

“I am excited to bring DRIVE FITT to India,” says Preity Zinta. “It brings together my two great passions—fitness and cricket.” Shubman Gill, who is bringing his cricketing expertise to the venture, says, “DRIVE FITT answers a gap in the market. It’s more than just a gym; it’s a place to train like a cricketer.”

It’s not just a house for conventional fitness equipment. In fact, this chain is taking cricket-inspired training programs through facilities, group fitness classes, and yoga studios. The facility has added Australian cricketers Chris Lynn and Ryan Harris as co-founders, lending their expertise in cricketing.

It has appointed Nikhil Kakkar, ex-COO of Gold’s Gym, as COO of DRIVE FITT. With his industry experience, he will be instrumental in the growth and expansion of the company. “Our vision is to take DRIVE FITT to all,” says Sellar. “We are quite confident of fast growth, even as many as up to 800 locations across India.”

With the celebrity endorsement, an innovative idea, and a practiced management team, DRIVE FITT can look forward to great promise. As the company gets ready to launch its first gyms, the Indian fitness industry is awaiting the entry of this exciting new venture.
