Indian spinner Ravi Bishnoi applauded Suryakumar Yadav and Shubman Gill and shared that both the captain and vice-captain of the team had backed him. Bishnoi claimed three wickets and conceded 26 runs in his 4-over spell during India’s 2nd T20I against Sri Lanka at the Pallekele Stadium on July 28, Sunday as well. Bishnoi was adjudged the Player of the Match for his performance as he did well with the ball on a spin-friendly track. He also revealed that Suryakumar has been a great leader and enjoyed bowling under him. He also applauded Shubman Gill for how he has been fulfilling his role.

“Suryakumar is doing great captaincy. I have played under him during the Australia series as well. He has been good. Shubman Gill’s captaincy was also great. In Zimbabwe, we also did great as a captain. They always back me and as a bowler you cannot ask for anything more than this when the captain backs you. Suryakumar and Shubman have both backed me,” Bishnoi said in the post-match press conference.

Team India have already won the 3-match T20I series as they took an unassailable lead of 2-0 as well. The new era under Suryakumar-Gambhir started on a positive note as they will aim for a clean sweep as well. However, Ravi Bishnoi revealed that he has been sharing a great bond with the newly appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir, who was also his mentor at LSG in IPL as well.

“I am sharing a great bond with Gautam Gambhir as he has been with LSG for two years. He has not asked me to change anything as such. He has told me to do what I am doing currently. His advice was useful to me earlier as well, and now too. They play spin really well, but I don’t know what has happened to them. They collapsed between the middle overs, and they were known as a good spin-playing team, but I think something has gone wrong,” Ravi Bishnoi concluded. “Yesterday’s injury was left behind only. I feel good to be able to contribute for the team and help India win. There is no regret about not getting a hat-trick. It’s not in my hand.”
