Few days ago, the young and talented Riyan Parag found a place in India’s squad for the white-ball series against Sri Lanka. The fans had huge expectations for the lad to work wonders with the bat, but nobody expected him to surprise the most with his ball display. Posting a serene picture of him after the conclusion of the series, Parag said on social media, “at peace,” revealing him so from his calm and content expression.
Yet, it was not the picture that became the sensation; it was that cheeky comment by his teammate Dhruv Jurel who stole the show. Jurel, Parag’s Rajasthan Royals teammate in the IPL, dropped a comment that read, “Ha bhai dikh gyi rolex.” Jurel’s light-hearted jibe at Parag’s apparent display of a Rolex watch in the post has received a deluge of amused reactions from fans online.

Following Parag’s performance in the recent T20I and ODI series, he received his ODI debut cap from none other than his idol, Virat Kohli. The day Kohli endorsed Parag as a future match-winner for India was absolutely endorseable for the youngster.
Though he struggled with the bat, where he could manage only 15 runs, he left a mark with the ball, taking three wickets and emulating his potential. In total, Parag has featured in six T20Is for India, accumulating 57 runs across four innings.

His recent stint in the IPL 2024 was particularly impressive. He scored a sum of 573 runs in 15 innings at a brilliant average of 52.09, with a strike rate of 149.22. All this damage was done batting at the all-important number four position for Rajasthan Royals. Obviously, his performance will only rise eyebrows in IPL and enhance his reputation as a future star of Indian cricket.
