Now, this astonishing journey will be taken forward to the cinematic screen, as the announcement comes that T-Series head Bhushan Kumar has got together with co-producer Ravi Bhagchandka to make a biopic on the cricketing legend. The film will portray Dhoni’s heroics on the field with the Indian cricket team—leading them to their first T20 World Cup win in 2007 and then winning the 2011 ODI World Cup—and his off-the-field struggles and dramatic rise.

This would be Bhagchandka’s second big project, made after the critically acclaimed 2017 documentary “Sachin: A Billion Dreams,” celebrating the life of another Indian cricket icon, Sachin Tendulkar.

Yuvraj shared that he felt deeply honored and excited about the biopic and hoped that his story inspired many others to fight through their own battles. “I am deeply honored that my story will be showcased to millions of my fans across the globe by Bhushan-ji and Ravi. Cricket has been my greatest love and strength through highs and lows. I hope this film inspires others to overcome their own challenges and go after their dreams with unflinching passion,” Yuvraj was quoted saying by Variety.

The announcement has piqued the interest of cricket followers and film buffs too, made on Tuesday, the 20th of August. According to the producer, Bhushan Kumar, one of the most instrumental men in producing some of the biggest and critically acclaimed films, he felt it justified to put Yuvraj’s life as a “compelling narrative of resilience, triumph, and passion” on the screen.

Speaking with TOI, Ravi Bhagchandka said he knew Yuvraj for several years. He added it was a great honor to be able to tell a truly sensational story about his journey through life in film. “Yuvi is not only a world champion but a true legend in every sense of the term,” Bhagchandka said.
