Australia’s white-ball maestro Glenn Maxwell is eagerly anticipating the showdown between Virat Kohli and Steve Smith, as the two cricketing titans prepare to clash in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy, set to begin in November later this year. Both Smith and Kohli have built remarkable records against each other’s teams.

Steve Smith has accumulated 2,042 runs in just 19 Tests against India, six games fewer than Kohli, who has reached the same tally of runs in 25 matches against Australia. Smith boasts an impressive average of 65.87, while Kohli maintains a solid 47.48. The competition between these two modern-day legends will undoubtedly be one of the most compelling aspects of the series.

Kohli’s performance on Australian soil has been nothing short of exceptional. In 13 Tests Down Under, he has scored 1,352 runs, including six centuries and four fifties, at an average of 54.08.

Glenn Maxwell, reflecting on this head-to-head battle, said, “Seeing how Steve Smith and Virat Kohli assert their dominance in the series will have a massive impact on who takes home the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. One of them, if not both, is going to make a lot of runs, and it’s going to be thrilling to watch two of the finest players of our generation go head-to-head.”
