Legendary Indian batter Sunil Gavaskar has sent a strong message for India before the upcoming Bangladesh series. Notably, India are all set to take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series beginning from September 19. Bangladesh are confident heading into the series after having recently registered a historic maiden series win over Pakistan as well.

“By beating Pakistan in both the Test matches played in Pakistan, the Bangladesh team have shown that they are a force to reckon with. Even a couple of years back, when India toured Bangladesh, they were given a good fight by the Bangladeshis. Now with the series win against Pakistan under their belt, they are primed to take on India too,” Gavaskar wrote in his column for Mid-Day.

Further, the legendary India batter applauded the young talent of Bangladesh hailing them for their fearless mindset as well.

“They have some fine players in their ranks and some new promising players who no longer have the awe of the opposition that seemed to characterise their early forays into the international game. Now, every team that play them know they can’t put their guard down as they could be knocked down as the Pakistanis found out. It will certainly be a series to look forward to,” he further wrote.

However, Bangladesh have never beaten India in a Test match, having lost 11 out of the 13 matches played between the two teams with two matches ending in a draw as well. Notably, they came agonizingly close to registering their first win over India in the last Test played between the two teams in December 2022 in Dhaka as well.
