Veteran allrounder Shakib Al Hasan dropped a straightforward catch of Akash Deep, denying Taskin Ahmed a much-deserved wicket during Day 2 of the first Test between India and Bangladesh in Chennai. The incident occurred in the morning session when Taskin bowled the fifth ball of the 85th over of India’s first innings.
Taskin delivered a short-of-a-length ball that Akash Deep attempted to pull towards midwicket. However, the ball caught the upper edge of Akash’s bat, sending it high into the air. Shakib, positioned at square leg, ran back to catch the ball. But he seemed unsettled as he moved toward it, and his discomfort showed when he tried to take the catch over his shoulder.
