Team India dominated the first Test of their series against Bangladesh, winning a commanding victory by 280 runs. On establishing 515 as a challenging target, the Indian bowlers restricted Bangladesh to 234 in their second innings while ensuring a fine win and taking away a 1-0 lead in the series.

However, off the field in a light-hearted moment, one of the match’s highlights came through Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj.Β  A video of Gill trolling Siraj emerged, capturing their fun exchange. In the clip, Gill light-heartedly says, “Mohammad Siraj official ID hai, baaki ki sab fake hain” (This is Mohammed Siraj’s official ID; the rest are fake), referring to a video Siraj had shared back sometime during social media.

All these years back, Siraj had raised an issue of fake accounts with his name, and Gill playfully brought it up during the match to the delight of fans. Starting from today, as India set their sights on their second Test, to be played at Green Park in Kanpur on September 27, a first home triumph will yield to preparation for this crucial match.

A victory here will not only give India the 2-0 series win but also position them in good stead in the World Test Championship standings. The series completes its Test phase, though neither side would exit the tour here as the brief formats are lined up next, consisting of three T20Is.

Since the T20Is do not share significance with Championship points like the Test series does, the latter will provide scope for both teams to seal their combinations ahead of international commitments. Confident after that nearly flawless Test series, India will now look to thoroughly dominate the rest of the tour.
