Dwayne Bravo, the charismatic all-rounder from the West Indies, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on September 26, marking the end of a remarkable 21-year career. While Bravo has been a popular figure in various franchise leagues around the world, he is most celebrated for his tenure with the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Hours after retiring, Dwayne Bravo stepped into a new role as the mentor for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), signalling a fresh chapter in his cricketing journey. Bravo’s appointment comes at a crucial time for KKR, as they were in search of a mentor after Gautam Gambhir, who guided them to their third IPL title, was named the Head Coach of the Indian Cricket Team.
Former KKR player Jacques Kallis was rumoured to be a strong contender for the mentor position, but with Bravo’s signing, KKR has put an end to all speculations. The Trinidadian will take on this leadership role from IPL 2025 onwards, bringing his vast experience and vibrant personality to the Kolkata-based franchise.
