India captain Rohit Sharma pulled off a spectacular one-handed catch that left the crowd in awe on Day 4 of the second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park Stadium in Kanpur. After two days of rain had washed out play, the fans were treated to a moment of brilliance from Rohit, who, standing at mid-off, timed his jump to perfection.

Litton Das had played a powerful drive off Mohammed Siraj’s delivery, and the ball seemed destined for the boundary. However, Rohit intervened with his right hand, plucking the ball out of the air with impeccable timing. The ball stuck right in his palm, stunning both Das and the crowd.

Litton Das, who was on 13, had middled his shot and looked certain to score, but Rohit’s athleticism turned the tide. Das couldn’t believe his misfortune, watching helplessly as his well-timed drive failed to clear Rohit or stay grounded. As soon as the catch was made, Rohit celebrated in style, raising his hand and running with a beaming smile, delighting his teammates and fans alike.

This was the fifth Bangladesh wicket to fall at 148, following Jasprit Bumrah’s earlier dismissal of Mushfiqur Rahim on the same morning. Bumrah had made the first breakthrough for India, sending Rahim back to the pavilion with a delivery that deceived the batter, knocking over his stumps. Rohit’s catch continued India’s dominance in the weather-hit Test match.

Meanwhile, Mominul Haque managed to complete his half-century as Bangladesh attempted to recover.
