His pivotal century in the first Test, played in Chennai, particularly stood out and garnered widespread acclaim from fans and experts alike. Ramiz Raja, a former ODI World Cup winner, highlighted Ashwin’s underappreciated status as an all-rounder despite his impressive track record.

According to Ramiz Raja, Ashwin’s contribution with both bat and ball is on par with the best in the game. He commended Ashwin for his professionalism, noting that the Indian star doesn’t let ego get in the way, even when he’s not part of the playing XI. Raja admired Ashwin’s calm demeanour and ability to accept team decisions without throwing “tantrums.”

“He (Ashwin) hasn’t been celebrated enough for his all-round abilities. When you look at his record, it’s clear he’s second to none. He’s a no-nonsense cricketer who takes everything in stride. Even when he’s not in the playing XI, he doesn’t make a fuss and understands the team’s situation and his role,” Ramiz Raja remarked on his YouTube channel.

The former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman went on to praise Ashwin’s ability to seize opportunities whenever he’s on the field. Raja pointed out that Ashwin’s intelligent approach to the game is reflected in both his performance and his insightful comments on cricket.
