For the second consecutive match in the India vs Bangladesh T20I series, Abhishek Sharma struggled to make an impact with the bat. After a standout IPL campaign this year, where his aggressive performances caught the eye, the left-handed opener earned his first call-up to the Indian team during the Zimbabwe tour.

He made a remarkable entry into international cricket, scoring a blazing century in just his second appearance. Despite his initial success, Abhishek missed out on selection for the T20I series in Sri Lanka, as regular openers returned to the squad.

However, with Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill rested for the current series, Abhishek Sharma was given another opportunity to prove himself. Unfortunately, he has not been able to convert his IPL form into consistent international performances. In the first match of the three-game series, Sharma got off to a quick start, racing to 16 runs off just 7 balls, before being run out in an unfortunate manner.

Hoping to bounce back in the second T20I on October 9, Abhishek Sharma opened the innings alongside Sanju Samson at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. He once again showed glimpses of his aggressive stroke play, hitting three boundaries early on, but failed to build on his promising start.

His stay at the crease was cut short when Bangladesh pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib bowled him for 15 runs. Sharma was undone by a short ball just outside off, which he dragged onto his stumps in the third over.

At the time of writing, India were struggling at 73/3 in the ninth over. Nitish Reddy and Rinku Singh were tasked with rebuilding the innings. Alongside Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson (10) and captain Suryakumar Yadav (8) also failed to make significant contributions, putting India under pressure in their chase.
