Rinku Singh Credits Domestic Cricket For Success In T20I Against Bangladesh

The fiery Indian batter, Rinku Singh was sublime in the second T20I played against Bangladesh as he struck 53 off just 29 balls at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium on 9 October. Five boundaries and three sixes were part of his inning that went off in style as he ended with a sublime strike rate of 182.76. According to Rinku, he had gained experience from playing at the number five position for Uttar Pradesh in their domestic cricket circuit.

Rinku, who has a brilliant First-Class average of 53.88, is yet to play a Test match for India. In 48 First-Class games, he has scored 3,179 runs with seven centuries and 20 half-centuries. While talking about his innings against Bangladesh, Rinku said he loves the format of the game and how experiences in his domestic circuit enabled him to perform well in important situations.

“The red ball, you know, is my favorite. The way I batted today was the same way I bat down at number 5 or 6 in domestic cricket when wickets start falling. I always back myself to score runs and pull the team out of a tough situation,” said Rinku Singh in a post-match interview with Jio Cinema.

 

But it was Nitish Kumar Reddy who accompanied Rinku, who also proved quite instrumental and whacked 74 off just 34 balls in his second appearance for India. His four boundaries and seven sixes contained an unbelievable strike rate of 217.65. Rinku praised the intelligence Nitish showed on the crease and was telling how his confidence kept growing as he hit a six off a no-ball.

“There was a no-ball, and he smashed a six on the free hit. From there, his confidence went up. He was batting intelligently and we were enjoying it. I told him, ‘It’s God’s plan, keep going,’ ” Rinku Singh added.
