India faced a tough outing on Day 2 of the ongoing Test match against New Zealand at Chinnaswamy Stadium after Day 1 was washed out due to persistent rain. Despite winning the toss, skipper Rohit Sharma’s decision to bat first backfired as India was bowled out for a dismal total of 46. It was a nightmare for the Indian batting lineup, with five players, including star Virat Kohli, getting dismissed for ducks.

Rishabh Pant’s score of 20 was the only saving grace in an otherwise bleak innings. New Zealand pacer William O’Rourke, who played a pivotal role in dismantling India’s batting order, spoke about his key wicket of Virat Kohli.

In an exclusive interview with JioCinema, William O’Rourke shared his thoughts on the delivery that got Virat Kohli out, stating, “I was aiming to exploit my angle back in with the leg gully in place as an attacking option. Though the delivery wasn’t exactly what I intended, it worked, and I’m glad to have taken his wicket.”

Reflecting on the favourable conditions, William O’Rourke added, “The weather felt quite similar to what we experience back home. We didn’t expect much help early on, but the ball started moving, and I just focused on doing my job. If we had won the toss, we probably would have batted first as well.”

Praising his team’s fielding performance, William O’Rourke said, “Our fielding was exceptional today. A few diving efforts made a big difference, and we take pride in those moments. We’ve been working on improving our fielding after some recent challenges, so today’s effort felt special.”

As for his experience in the subcontinent, William O’Rourke acknowledged the adjustments he had to make. “Playing here for the first time is a bit different, but the two Tests in Sri Lanka helped me adapt. I’m just focused on sticking to my strengths,” he concluded.
