India National Cricket Team skipper Rohit Sharma, along with senior batter Virat Kohli, showed visible frustration as play came to an abrupt halt towards the end of Day 4 in the ongoing first Test against New Zealand. Despite conceding a massive 356-run lead after a disastrous first innings, India staged a remarkable comeback in their second effort. Led by Rohit Sharma, the team put up a total of 462 runs, leaving New Zealand with a challenging target of 107 runs to chase.

India’s turnaround was powered by Sarfaraz Khan’s brilliant 150 and Rishabh Pant’s explosive 99, the duo stitching together a 177-run partnership that pulled India out of trouble and brought them back into the game. As the day progressed, India’s fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah began to make the most of the overcast conditions. With the ball swinging in both directions, Bumrah had New Zealand skipper Tom Latham in trouble, beating him on the inside and outside edges and even wrapping him on the pads.

It was a crucial moment for India, as they sensed an opportunity to make early inroads into the New Zealand batting lineup. However, just after four deliveries, the umpires decided to call off play due to fading light. The atmosphere in Bengaluru had become gloomy, and the officials deemed it unsafe to continue. This decision didn’t sit well with Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who were visibly upset.

Rohit was seen engaging in a heated conversation with the umpires, expressing his dissatisfaction, while Kohli looked equally displeased. Both players were keen to press on, believing that a few more overs under the challenging conditions could give them an edge in claiming early wickets.
