Virat Kohli’s frustration was evident after a costly run-out in the third Test against New Zealand at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Late in the day’s play on November 1, Kohli made a rare lapse in judgment, leaving him short at the non-striker’s end. Matt Henry’s quick reflexes and sharp direct hit ended Kohli’s brief innings, adding to India’s woes as they struggled to steady their innings.
Kohli had started promisingly, hitting a classic boundary through mid-wicket off a full toss from Rachin Ravindra. The shot seemed to indicate that Kohli would anchor the remaining deliveries and take India safely to stumps. However, on the third ball of the 19th over, Kohli attempted a risky single, challenging Henry at mid-on.

Matt Henry responded swiftly, throwing down the stumps as Kohli’s dive fell short, ending his innings at just four runs off six balls. India, which had been 78 for one after 17.1 overs, suddenly found itself in a precarious position, losing three wickets within eight balls to end Day 1 at 86 for four, trailing New Zealand by 149 runs.

Virat Kohli’s struggles in the series continued; aside from a gritty 70 in Bengaluru’s first Test, he has scored just 92 runs across five innings, averaging a disappointing 18.40. Earlier, India’s bowlers had worked hard to dismiss New Zealand for 235 in 65.4 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja claimed a five-wicket haul, taking down key players like Will Young, Tom Blundell, and Glenn Phillips. Washington Sundar was equally effective, securing four wickets and emerging as the series’ leading wicket-taker. Despite strong bowling, India’s faltering top order leaves them with work to do heading into Day 2.
This idiocy is next level from Kohli.
Then again when you get run out foolishly, nobody can raise questions about your inept batting.

Just unbelievable this trying to steal a run which was never there with a couple of overs to go for stumps. Decision making being very ordinary unfortunately.

You would think Indian batters learnt in Pune not to risk quick singles against NZ fielders.
Horrendous call from Virat Kohli that! #IndvNZ
