Seamer Siddarth Kaul announced his retirement from Indian cricket on November 28, 2024, bringing an end to a domestic and international career spanning over a decade. The 34-year-old played six international matches—three ODIs and three T20Is—where he picked up four wickets. Hailing from Punjab, Kaul made his international debut in a 2018 T20I against England in Nottingham and played his last match against Australia in Bengaluru in 2019.
In domestic cricket, Siddarth Kaul was a Punjab stalwart, featuring 88 first-class, 111 List A, and 145 T20 matches. He was instrumental in Punjab’s success, particularly in white-ball cricket. Earlier this year, Kaul played a vital role in Punjab’s Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy triumph and ended as their highest wicket-taker in the 2023-24 Vijay Hazare Trophy with 19 scalps in six matches.
Across his domestic career, he amassed 155 wickets in Vijay Hazare Trophy and 120 in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, cementing his reputation as a death-over specialist. Reflecting on his journey, Siddarth Kaul shared his gratitude for achieving his childhood dream of representing India.

“When I was a child playing cricket in the fields of Punjab, I dreamt of wearing the India jersey. In 2018, by God’s grace, I earned my T20I and ODI caps,” he said.

Though retiring from Indian cricket, Kaul is far from done with the sport. He revealed his plans to explore opportunities in overseas leagues, stating he still has “3-4 years of cricket” left in him. Speaking to ESPNcricinfo, Kaul explained his decision to retire while at his peak. “I wanted to leave on a high, performing well and maintaining my fitness, rather than being asked to step down later due to fitness issues or lack of form,” he said.

Kaul expressed enthusiasm about playing in leagues like county cricket, the Major League Cricket (MLC), and the Legends League. “I’ve been performing consistently across formats over the last 9-10 years. I hope to explore opportunities abroad and continue enjoying the game I love,” he concluded.
Kaul’s contributions to Punjab cricket and his brief yet impactful stint with Team India will remain a testament to his dedication and skill.
