Anvay Dravid, the 16-year-old son of cricket legend Rahul Dravid, showcased his immense talent with a remarkable unbeaten century for Karnataka in the Vijay Merchant Trophy. The match against Jharkhand, held in Mulapadu, Andhra Pradesh, ended in a draw, but Anvay’s performance stood out as a defining moment in his young career.
Batting at number four, Anvay scored an impressive 100 not out off 153 deliveries. His innings, which included 10 fours and two sixes, was instrumental in Karnataka’s reply to Jharkhand’s first-innings total of 387. Karnataka declared their innings at 441 for 4 in 123.3 overs.
Anvay’s knock was built on solid partnerships, including a 167-run stand with Syaamantak Anirudh (76) for the third wicket and a 43-run partnership with Sukurth J (33) for the fourth wicket. This innings marked Anvay’s maiden hundred in the Vijay Merchant Trophy, coming in just his third outing. In his previous matches, he had already made a strong impression with scores of 50 and 75.

Anvay’s elder brother, Samit Dravid, has also been making waves in age-group cricket. At 19, Samit represented India in the Under-19 home series against Australia in September, although a knee injury ruled him out of the matches. Earlier, Samit played a crucial role in Karnataka’s title-winning campaign in the Cooch Behar Trophy, scoring 362 runs and taking 16 wickets.
Samit also gained experience in senior cricket by representing Mysuru Warriors in the Maharaja Trophy. Despite missing the 2024 Under-19 World Cup due to age restrictions, his performances continue to impress.
