Jasprit Bumrah has undoubtedly been India’s standout performer in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, playing a key role in the team’s bowling attack. While other Indian bowlers have been inconsistent, Bumrah’s leadership and exceptional performances, especially in the first Test, have been crucial. Without him, India would have faced even greater challenges in the series.
Former Australian pacer Brett Lee has been praised for Bumrah’s exploits, calling him a “world-class” bowler. Speaking after the Gabba Test, Lee noted that Bumrah’s brilliance has made him the leader of the Indian attack, and he stands head and shoulders above the rest of the Indian bowlers.

“Jasprit Bumrah is world class,” Brett Lee told Fox Sports. “Unfortunately, India has been without Mohammed Shami, but Mohammad Siraj has stepped up well, despite some doubts about him. I think he has bowled really well.” Lee further explained that while India has other good pacers, Bumrah’s dominance in the attack is a testament to how good he is, stating that he is far ahead of any other bowler in the Indian squad.
Bumrah’s performances in the series have been nothing short of exceptional. He currently leads the wicket tally with 21 wickets, boasting an impressive average of 10.90 and an economy rate of 2.60. His contribution has been instrumental in India’s success, and he even claimed his 12th five-wicket haul in the third Test, further solidifying his position as the best bowler in the series.
