India batter Prithvi Shaw has been central to discussions among cricket experts and fans for months. Once heralded as a prodigious talent, Shaw’s career trajectory has dramatically declined. After going unsold in the IPL 2025 mega auction, the young batter has also been out of favour with the Indian national team.
Representing Mumbai in domestic cricket, Shaw’s struggles have continued, with his performances failing to meet expectations. Recently, a Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) official criticized Shaw’s attitude and effort on the field, sparking widespread debate.
“In the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, it felt like we were playing with 10 fielders because we had to hide Prithvi Shaw in the field. The ball would pass near him, and he barely tried to reach it. His fitness, discipline, and attitude are poor. There cannot be different rules for different players,” the MCA official remarked, shedding light on concerns regarding Shaw’s commitment.

These comments drew a sharp response from former India cricketer Jatin Paranjape, who came to Shaw’s defense. Taking to social media, Paranjape criticized the MCA’s approach, suggesting they were not interested in supporting the struggling batter.
Such loose comments from sources within the MCA are truly unfortunate. Looks like they are not interested in helping Shaw out. What do they mean by “babysit” ? This will definitely be his last season as a Mumbai player. https://t.co/1PYxjcvQLU

Amid this controversy, Shaw added fuel to the fire with a cryptic Instagram story. The young batter appeared to address the criticism indirectly, emphasizing the importance of understanding situations fully before commenting.

“If you don’t understand it fully, don’t speak on it. Too many people have full opinions, with half the facts. Friyay,” Shaw posted, leaving fans speculating about his mindset.
With his talent undeniable, Shaw’s current struggles highlight the challenges of maintaining form, fitness, and discipline at the highest level. Whether he can bounce back and reclaim his place in Indian cricket remains a question only time can answer.
