Indian players finally hit the fresh outdoor nets at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Tuesday, December 24, preparing for the crucial fourth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. After an intense practice session, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made time for fans who had gathered in large numbers to catch a glimpse of their cricketing heroes.

As Rohit began heading back to the dressing room, a young fan caught his attention. The girl, an ardent admirer of Shubman Gill, called out to Rohit, asking him to summon the Punjab batter. By then, Gill had completed his session and left the practice area. Rohit gestured to indicate that Shubman was no longer present.

However, the persistent fan continued with her request, which seemed to test Rohit’s patience. Responding with a hint of exasperation, the captain remarked, “Kaha se bulau (How should I call him?).”

Later, the young girl spoke to RevSportz, revealing her unwavering admiration for Gill and explaining the circumstances behind her late arrival. She shared that her fractured leg required a bandage, delaying her journey to the nets. Despite missing her chance to meet her idol, she expressed her hope for Shubman to return to form, as the 25-year-old has managed just 60 runs in three innings so far in the series.

“My leg is broken. I put on a bandage and came. Yesterday I saw him briefly but couldn’t say anything because I started crying. I came late today because of my leg and missed him again. But I believe Shubman will bounce back,” she said.

India will aim to channel their fond memories from their last visit to the historic venue, where they triumphed by eight wickets to secure the series. A win this time will ensure they retain the coveted Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
