Commentators bring an invaluable layer of depth to sports, providing minute-by-minute insights and analysis that keep audiences engaged. Over the years, the commentary box has also been the stage for countless memorable and entertaining moments, many of which have left lasting impressions on sports enthusiasts.
One such delightful instance unfolded during the recent Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Australian women’s team skipper Alyssa Healy, who was commentating while her husband Mitchell Starc played in the five-match series, provided some lighthearted entertainment. Healy couldn’t resist taking playful jibes at Starc’s golfing skills, much to the amusement of viewers.

The tables turned during the second ODI of the Women’s Ashes at Melbourne’s Junction Oval on January 14. Starc was in the commentary box this time as Healy led the Australian side. She got off to a flying start, smashing 29 runs off just 19 balls at a strike rate of over 150, with six boundaries. However, her innings was cut short in the ninth over when she edged a Lauren Bell delivery to wicketkeeper Amy Jones. Adding a humorous twist, it was Starc who made the call as his wife walked back to the pavilion.

Their bowlers rose to the occasion, dismissing England for 159 in 48.1 overs to secure a 21-run victory. Leg-spinner Alana King stole the show with an outstanding performance, claiming 4/25 in her 10 overs and earning the Player of the Match award. She was ably supported by pacer Kim Garth, who took 3/37.
