Amidst reports of significant changes being considered by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), noted commentator Harsha Bhogle has shared a unique suggestion regarding a rule he believes the board should implement. India’s recent struggles in Test cricket have prompted the BCCI to explore ways to revitalize the team’s performance.
After a disappointing whitewash at home against New Zealand and a crushing 3-1 series defeat in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia, India’s hopes of reaching the World Test Championship Final for the 2023-25 cycle have been dashed. Reacting to the ongoing discussions, Harsha Bhogle took to social media to share his perspective on an area needing reform.

“Reading of the changes the BCCI is apparently suggesting for the Indian team. I don’t know how much to believe, but if I had to nominate one rule to be strictly applied, it would be to ban team members from having PR agencies,” Bhogle posted on his official X handle. His suggestion points to a growing concern about external influences and distractions affecting team dynamics.

Recent leaks from the Indian dressing room have further fueled speculation about internal discord. These leaks, which hint at rifts between players and the coaching staff, stand in stark contrast to the unity and dominance the team displayed during their successful periods. The BCCI is reportedly addressing these issues, alongside implementing changes to improve the team’s form.

As the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee prepares for the upcoming home series against England and the Champions Trophy in the UAE, they face critical decisions in finalizing a squad that can restore India’s competitive edge on the global stage.
