The 26-year-old leg-spinner took two significant wickets in the match, taking his overall career total to 633 wickets in 461 T20 games. This brought him ahead of Bravo, who had grabbed the record with 631 wickets from 582 games. The numbers of Rashid are nothing short of exceptional as he boasts an average of 18.07, an economy rate of 6.49 and best figures of 6/17.

Rashid Khan has also taken four five-wicket hauls. He has consolidated his position among the finest bowling talents in the shortest format of the game. Reflecting on his achievement, Rashid expressed his pride in representing Afghanistan at the highest level.

“It’s a great achievement. I never imagined this 10 years ago. To be at the top, coming from Afghanistan, is a proud feeling. DJ Bravo has been one of the best T20 bowlers, and it’s an honor to surpass him. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey,” he told the broadcaster.

Meanwhile, Rashid’s heroics were not personal milestones alone. His team, MI Cape Town, dominated, winning by 39 runs and booking a final spot in SA20 2025. A total of 199/4 was powered through contributions from Ryan Rickelton, Rassie van der Dussen, Dewald Brevis, George Linde, and Delano Potgieter.

In response, Paarl Royals couldn’t find much momentum after losing three wickets in the powerplay. Skipper David Miller and Dinesh Karthik couldn’t help them out; they got bowled over for 160 runs in 19.4 overs, but they still have a chance for the final. They will face the winner of the Eliminator between Sunrisers Eastern Cape and Joburg Super Kings in Qualifier 2 on February 6.

MI Cape Town will be eager to take the SA20 title with Rashid Khan in some red-hot form, and the fans will watch closely as he continues to redefine T20 bowling excellence.
