Indian actress Sanya Malhotra recently stirred up controversy for her response to a cricketing question during a podcast appearance. While promoting her upcoming film Mrs, the Dangal star was asked to choose between two of India’s greatest batting icons—Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Her response quickly caught attention, though she admitted to knowing very little about cricket.

Sanya, who has stunned the audience with performances in films such as Badhaai Ho, Shakuntala Devi, Ludo, and Jawan, is gearing up for the release of Mrs, scheduled to release on February 7. She appeared on The Unplugged Podcast with Shubhankar Mishra and was asked to choose between Kohli and Rohit. Without much deliberation, she chose Kohli but clarified that her choice had nothing to do with cricketing skills.

Indian batting superstars Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are getting ready for the three-match ODI series against England, scheduled to start on February 6, 2025, at the VCA Stadium in Nagpur. With the ICC Champions Trophy just a few weeks away, both of them will be itching to regain form after a difficult Test season. Rohit went through a trying time in the red-ball game, scoring just 164 runs in eight games at a shocking average of 10.93.
Virat Kohli did slightly better, scoring 382 runs in 10 Tests at 22.87. They have had poor runs both in Tests and domestic cricket as well, so they would want to regain their mojo in ODIs, the format in which they have performed very well in the past.

With the limelight shining brightly on them, Kohli and Rohit will be keen to put aside the pathetic Test struggle and give a performance that will reconfirm their position as India’s undisputed bonafide batsmen. The fans will be hoping to see them as good as they can be as India prepares for the next major tourney.
