Ajinkya Rahane is known for his sharp decision-making as a leader, but in KKR’s clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad, a moment of hesitation nearly proved costly. The incident occurred when Heinrich Klaasen, SRH’s most dangerous batter, was at the crease, and Rahane chose not to review a close appeal—one that could have sent Klaasen back early.

The moment unfolded when Sunil Narine bowled a length delivery that beat Klaasen on the inside edge as he attempted a big slog over the off-side. Rahane was unsure about taking the DRS and eventually decided against it. Moments later, the replays revealed a clear spike on the UltraEdge, confirming that Klaasen had edged the ball. Rahane’s frustration was evident, his face turning red as he realized his error, while Narine could only shake his head in disbelief.

Fortunately for KKR, the missed opportunity didn’t hurt them for too long. Heinric Klaasen, who looked threatening with a quick 33 off 21 balls, was eventually dismissed, allowing Rahane to breathe a sigh of relief. His wicket marked a crucial breakthrough for KKR as they aimed to defend their total.

Earlier, KKR had set a daunting target of 202, thanks to a late flourish in the final five overs. While Rahane and young Angkrish Raghuvanshi laid the foundation, it was Venkatesh Iyer’s explosive 60 off 29 balls that provided the finishing touch. Rinku Singh chipped in with a vital 32*, helping KKR add 78 runs in the last five overs.

For SRH, the bowling effort left much to be desired. At 122-4 after 15 overs, they had a real chance to restrict KKR below 180, but inconsistent death bowling and Cummins’ questionable decision to underuse his spinners cost them dearly.
With 202 to chase, SRH’s hopes rest on the likes of Klaasen, Aiden Markram, and Rahul Tripathi. They’ll need something special to turn this contest in their favor.
