Virat Kohli continues to redefine greatness in T20 cricket. On Monday, during Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s high-octane clash against Mumbai Indians, Kohli became the first Indian batter — and only the fifth overall in the world — to reach the monumental milestone of 13,000 runs in T20 cricket. As always, the moment was classic Kohli: effortless, commanding, and full of flair. Facing ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah, who was making his comeback from injury, Kohli launched him for a stunning six over deep mid-wicket, sending a strong statement early in the powerplay.

It was Devdutt Padikkal who took a single off Bumrah’s first delivery, before Kohli stepped in and sent the crowd into a frenzy with that towering hit. Former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop summed it up perfectly on commentary: “No respect. Batters just looking to dominate the powerplay, irrespective of the bowler.”

Jasprit Bumrah’s return was a key storyline for Mumbai, who also welcomed Rohit Sharma back into the XI after he missed the previous game. RCB, on the other hand, went in unchanged. MI skipper Hardik Pandya opted to bowl first, citing the dew factor as a major influence.

“This has always been our fortress,” Hardik Pandya said at the toss. “We just need to convert moments, play smarter, and get into a rhythm. The support here in Mumbai is unmatched.” He added that the return of seasoned stars like Bumrah and Rohit would provide a much-needed boost. “Playing at home, with the crowd behind you, makes a huge difference. Having Jassi and Ro back gives us that extra fuel.”
