Gujarat Titans’ batting coach Parthiv Patel applauded Nicholas Pooran after the Lucknow Super Giants star continued his great form on Saturday, April 12. Pooran scored 61 off 34 balls as LSG beat GT by 6 wickets to reach the third in the points table. However, Pooran regained the top spot in the Orange Cap race as he has scored 349 runs in 6 matches, with four fifties to his name as well.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Parthiv said, “It is very difficult to plan against someone like Nicholas Pooran. We had our plans, but the game was in such a situation where we had to attack. Sometimes you have to just tell him, well played. That’s exactly how he batted. We have seen that if he gets going, he is really difficult to stop.”

The defeat ended GT’s 4-match winning run but Parthiv Patel still looked at the positives as well. The GT coach also praised Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan for the opening stand and lauded the bowling spell of Prasidh Krishna. Parthiv also said that they need to focus on their fielding a bit as well.

“Opening partnership was outstanding, there is no doubt about it. Both Shubman and Sai Sudharsan have been phenomenal for us throughout the season. I thought Prasidh Krishna has been bowling well, Mohammed Siraj has been bowling well but today wasn’t his day. Sai played well, have been playing well. It’s not easy to show consistency in this format. The way he is batting, the shots he is playing, you can see his conventional touch. He plays low-risk cricket but keeps the strike rate high. What we need to improve upon is probably fielding. That’s something which can change the result of the game,” Parthiv Patel concluded.
