Shimron Hetmyer is fast becoming one of the most dependable boundary riders in the IPL, thanks to his knack for taking jaw-dropping catches under pressure. Earlier in the season, he stunned everyone by grabbing a match-defining catch to dismiss MS Dhoni, helping the Rajasthan Royals clinch a tight contest against the Chennai Super Kings.

And on April 16 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, he was at it again—this time cutting short KL Rahul’s promising innings with a moment of pure fielding brilliance. In the IPL 2025 clash between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, the home side got off to a blazing start after being put in to bat.

Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel raced to 33 runs within the first two overs, putting the Royals under early pressure. However, the visitors bounced back smartly—Jofra Archer removed Fraser-McGurk in the third over, followed by Karun Nair’s unfortunate run-out in the very next.
Just when it looked like Rajasthan might regain control, KL Rahul and Porel dug in. Their solid partnership crossed the 50-run mark, rebuilding Delhi’s innings and pushing the Royals on the back foot. With both batters settled and the scoreboard ticking steadily, the Royals needed a spark, and Hetmyer delivered it.

In the 13th over, Jofra Archer banged one in short and Rahul, seeing a scoring opportunity, pulled it hard toward deep mid-wicket. It looked destined for the fence, but Hetmyer had other ideas. Charging in from the boundary, he timed his dive perfectly, getting his fingers underneath the ball inches before it hit the turf. It was the kind of catch that shifts momentum—and it did.

Rahul walked back after scoring a steady 38 off 32 balls. At the end of the 16th over, Delhi Capitals were 130 for 4, with captain Axar Patel and Tristan Stubbs looking to push the total to a competitive mark.
