Mitchell Starc’s participation in the remainder of IPL 2025 is in serious doubt after the Australian speedster returned home to Sydney to gear up for the World Test Championship final against South Africa. Starc, who was representing Delhi Capitals this season, left India following the temporary suspension of the IPL amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan. His early departure took an unfortunate turn when a fan intruded on his personal space at the airport.

While Mitchell Starc was loading his luggage onto a trolley, the fan began filming a vlog and asked the pacer to say something on camera. Clearly annoyed, Starc snapped and told the fan to “go away.” The incident, caught on video, quickly went viral online, sparking divided opinions.

While many supported Starc and criticised the fan for breaching his privacy, others felt the cricketer could have handled the situation more calmly. Following the de-escalation of cross-border tensions, the BCCI announced that IPL 2025 would resume from May 17.

However, Mitchell Starc is unlikely to return, with his focus now firmly on the WTC final. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have also lost another overseas player—Jake Fraser-McGurk.

The young Australian opener informed the franchise of his unavailability for the rest of the season after a string of low scores, barring a top score of 38 in six innings. In his place, the Capitals have roped in Mustafizur Rahman.

Currently placed fifth on the table, DC’s match against Punjab Kings was abandoned due to a technical failure. It will be replayed on May 24 in Jaipur, and the Capitals still stand a strong chance of making the playoffs if they can win their remaining three games.
