Mumbai’s rising star Ayush Mhatre, fresh off an impressive debut season with Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, is set to captain the India U19 squad for their upcoming tour of England. The tour kicks off on June 24 with a 50-over warm-up fixture at Loughborough University, setting the stage for a packed schedule featuring five Youth One-Day Internationals and two multi-day games against England U19.

Mhatre’s aggressive stroke play and leadership qualities have caught the eye, and he’ll have a familiar face alongside him —the Rajasthan Royals’ teenage sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi. Known for his explosive IPL strike rate of 206.55, Suryavanshi’s presence is expected to inject firepower at the top in the white-ball leg of the tour.
Interestingly, Mhatre and Suryavanshi are the only players in the squad with IPL experience, offering a valuable edge in pressure situations. Joining the promising duo are Punjab’s Vihaan Malhotra and Gujarat’s Maulyarajsinh Chavda, the latter having recently notched a century in the Cooch Behar Trophy.

Mumbai’s 17-year-old wicketkeeper-batter Abhigyan Kundu has been named vice-captain, while Saurashtra’s Harvansh Singh will serve as the backup keeper. The five-match one-day series begins on June 27 at Hove, followed by games in Northampton on June 30 and July 2.

The final two ODIs will be played in Worcester on July 5 and 7. The red-ball leg kicks off on July 12 in Beckenham, with the second multi-day match scheduled to begin July 20 in Chelmsford. With a blend of IPL-hardened flair and domestic promise, the squad is poised for a competitive summer on English soil.
