India and Sun Risers Hyderabad opener, Shikhar Dhawan, gained a lot of popularity on Twitter after his match-winning innings against Mumbai Indians in Hyderabad tonight. After putting the opposition in to bat, David Warner and his men restricted them to 138-7 in 20 overs. The home team then chased the target comprehensively on the back of Dhawan’s knock.
In what was his 28th IPL half-century, Dhawan ended up scoring 62* (46) with the help of four fours and two sixes. The fact that Dhawan stepped up on the occasion following Warner’s early exit adds more value to his innings. The southpaw was named in India’s squad for the Champions Trophy earlier in the day. It must have been the most apt way to celebrate such a news.

The big plus for @SunRisers is the form of @SDhawan25 & the fact that he closed out the game. That, and the role of the two Afghan spinners

Just the kind of start @SunRisers would have hoped for. And they will be buoyed by the form of @SDhawan25.

The good and a scare. While @ImRo45 and @SDhawan25 welcome #CT17 with brilliant batting, hope @YUVSTRONG12 injury isn't serious enough
