Wimbledon 2025 has dazzled not only with its top-tier tennis but also with its star-studded Royal Box. Among the elite guests spotted courtside this week were cricket legends Virat Kohli, Sunil Gavaskar, Ajinkya Rahane, and Rishabh Pant, along with Bollywood star Anushka Sharma and seamer Deepak Chahar. While the All England Club echoed with the sounds of forehands and drop shots, the cricketing fraternity soaked in the action—sharing their insights, admiration, and a few personal favorites.

Sunil Gavaskar, who has become a familiar face at SW19 over the years, admitted he frequents Wimbledon more often than Lord’s unless India is playing there. Speaking to Star Sports, he shared his heart-versus-head dilemma. “I’d love to see Novak Djokovic win his 25th Grand Slam—that would be historic. But my mind says Carlos Alcaraz, especially with Sinner not being fully fit.”

Drawing a fascinating parallel, Gavaskar likened Alcaraz’s flamboyant, unpredictable style to that of Rishabh Pant. “Alcaraz has all the shots, moves beautifully, and adds flair with those cheeky drop shots. That unpredictability reminds me of Pant. With both of them, you just never know what’s coming next—that’s the thrill.”

Pant, equally excited to be in the Royal Box, spoke passionately about being on the other side of elite sport for once. “There’s so much inspiration here. We’re usually playing, so to be a fan and watch world-class athletes like these is refreshing. Also, I finally get to dress sharp instead of wearing track pants,” he laughed.
On his tennis idols, Pant didn’t hesitate. “Roger Federer, without a doubt. His backhand, his grace—it’s something I’ve always admired. Among today’s players, Alcaraz is incredible. His comeback at the French Open was unreal. And I like Sinner too—he’s got that fight in him.”

As for what cricket and tennis share at the elite level? Pant was clear: “It’s all about mindset. Talent matters, yes, but your mentality sets you apart. That’s the difference between being good and being great.”
At Wimbledon 2025, cricket’s finest are not just spectators—they’re inspired fans, drawing lessons from the very best of another sport.
