India’s T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav recently added a unique flair to his Wimbledon debut by selecting none other than MS Dhoni as his dream doubles tennis partner. The swashbuckling Mumbai batter, known for his 360-degree range on the cricket field, was in London with his wife Devisha Shetty to soak in the legendary atmosphere of Centre Court — something he’d long admired from afar.

Sharing his thoughts in a candid conversation with JioCinema on the sidelines of Wimbledon 2025, Suryakumar Yadav said, “I’ve watched a lot of tennis on TV, but to be here in person at Centre Court is truly surreal. The energy is something else.” When asked to name a cricketer he’d love to team up with for a doubles match, he didn’t hesitate.
“MS Dhoni. He’s quick, mentally strong, and has incredible endurance. I’ve seen him play tennis quite a lot during his off time, and I think he’d be the perfect partner,” Surya added with a smile.

Wimbledon also captured the stylish couple’s presence, with SKY donning a crisp beige suit and purple dotted tie — an ensemble he credited to his wife.

“It’s my first time here, so I wanted to get everything right. Honestly, Devisha planned everything — from the outfit to the vibe. She’s been on it for the past three or four days,” he said. Talking tennis favourites, Suryakumar named Pete Sampras and Roger Federer as his Wimbledon icons, but picked Novak Djokovic as his all-time favourite. “Currently, I really enjoy watching Carlos Alcaraz. He brings such fire and flair to the court,” he shared.
The stylish right-hander also drew parallels between cricket and tennis. “Both sports demand a strong mental game. Whether you’re running between the wickets or chasing down shots on the court, endurance and focus are key. That mental toughness is what separates the greats,” he noted.

Suryakumar, who recently underwent surgery for a sports hernia in Munich, is currently recovering. While he remains sidelined, fans can expect his return in October, when India travel to Australia for a white-ball series.
Until then, the Mumbaikar seems content taking in tennis brilliance from the sidelines — dressed sharp, speaking from the heart, and still carrying the game’s spirit wherever he goes.
