Mohammed Siraj brought the fire to a feisty fourth day at Lord’s, igniting the intensity of the third Test between India and England with a fiery send-off to Ben Duckett. With the match already simmering from a tense end to Day 3, Siraj added more spice early on Day 4, delivering a crucial breakthrough in tandem with Jasprit Bumrah.

In the sixth over of England’s second innings, Duckett miscued a length ball from Siraj straight to Bumrah at mid-on. Bumrah made no mistake with the catch, and Siraj erupted in celebration, storming toward Duckett with an intense send-off that set the tone for what was already a high-voltage session. The moment underscored the bubbling tension between the two sides—a rivalry that has been growing throughout the series.

The previous evening had seen Shubman Gill and Zak Crawley locked in a verbal altercation just before stumps, following a contentious incident in the final over of play. KL Rahul, speaking to the media, recounted the drama that unfolded as the shadows lengthened at Lord’s on Day 3.

With the match tied on 387 apiece, Crawley and Duckett walked out for a nervy final 10 minutes. But controversy erupted before Bumrah’s third delivery as Crawley stepped away, citing movement behind the bowler’s arm. Gill, standing in the slips, was unimpressed and made his feelings known with a sharp rebuke.

Things escalated on the fifth ball when Crawley was struck on the glove by a rising delivery and called for the physio. The Indian fielders, sensing gamesmanship, surrounded the England pair, and a heated exchange between Crawley and Gill ensued, with both men pointing fingers and trading words.

KL Rahul, who witnessed the altercation up close, played it down. “It’s just part of the game,” he said. “As an opening batter, I understand what was happening. Everyone out there knew what was going on—it’s not uncommon.”

He also noted that Gill’s reaction wasn’t out of character. “I’ve seen him fired up before,” Rahul said. “We had six minutes left and wanted to get in two overs. Every team would do the same. That’s not controversial—it’s just smart cricket.”

Rahul summed it up as “a bit of theatrics” to cap off a thrilling day. “We knew it was hard for a batter to face two overs after fielding all day. We wanted a wicket, and we were pumped.”

With tempers high and neither side backing down, the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy continues to deliver pure Test drama at its finest.
