Actress and dancer Dhanashree Verma has finally opened up about the much-talked-about incident involving her ex-husband and Indian leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, who made headlines during their divorce proceedings earlier this year. The controversy erupted in March when Chahal walked into court wearing a black T-shirt boldly printed with the phrase “Be Your Own Sugar Daddy.”

While the gesture sparked wide speculation, Yuzvendra Chahal later clarified on a podcast that the move was intentional, aimed at “sending a message” after “something happened” from the other side. However, Dhanashree has now responded sharply, suggesting that such theatrics were unnecessary.
In an interview with India Today, Dhanashreee remarked, “We all knew people would blame me no matter what. Before I even learned about this T-shirt stunt, I was prepared for fingers to point at me. But really? WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyu pehna hai? (You could’ve sent me a message on WhatsApp—why wear that T-shirt?).”

Reports suggest that the couple had been living separately for months before formally initiating divorce proceedings. Dhanashree revealed that while she had remained strong throughout their relationship, the final moments in court broke her emotionally.

Recalling the verdict day, she said, “Even though I was mentally prepared, I couldn’t hold back. I started crying uncontrollably in front of everyone. He walked out first, but for me, all the emotions came pouring out because I knew how much I had stood by him—through every small and big thing.”

Her remarks also highlighted the emotional toll the separation took on her, stressing that one’s conduct in such situations reflects their true self. “I know the effort I put into this relationship. Everyone saw how I stood up for him, but maybe that’s why I broke down on that day.”
Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal remains sidelined from Team India across formats but enjoyed a successful IPL 2025 campaign with the Punjab Kings, reaching the tournament’s final.
