Prithvi Shaw has made one thing clear—he doesn’t want sympathy as he embarks on his comeback journey in Indian cricket. At just 24, the talented opener has seen highs and lows that most cricketers face over a lifetime. Now, with a fresh start at Maharashtra, Shaw is determined to rise again, and he has already set the tone with a fluent century in the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament.

“Don’t want anyone’s sympathy,” Prithvi Shaw said with conviction, emphasizing his desire to let performances speak louder than words. Batting at the Guru Nanak College Ground in Chennai, Shaw scored a confident hundred against Chhattisgarh, holding the innings together while wickets kept falling around him.

Reflecting on his journey, Prithvi Shaw added, “I don’t mind starting from scratch because I’ve seen many ups and downs in my life. I’ve been up there, I’ve been down there, and I’ve come back again. So, everything is possible. I believe in myself, my work ethic, and I hope this season will go really well for me and my team.”

The move from Mumbai to Maharashtra marks both a reset and a statement for Shaw. After missing India call-ups, going unsold at the IPL auction, and being dropped from Mumbai’s Ranji squad, he is now focused on rediscovering the basics that once made him one of the brightest young stars.

“I don’t want to change much,” Prithvi Shaw explained. “I just went back to the things I did during my Under-19 days—training hard, practicing, gym, running. These small things got me into the Indian team earlier, and I’m doing them all over again.”

Prithvi Shaw has also chosen to cut out distractions, especially from social media. “Nowadays, social media can be harmful. I feel peaceful when I’m away from it. It’s all about learning for me, and I’m confident in who I am and what I bring.”

For Shaw, the ultimate goal is clear—pile up consistent runs at the domestic level and force the selectors’ attention once again. With his determination and renewed focus, an India recall may just be a matter of time.
