Suresh Raina, a Chennai Super Kings (CSK) legend, recently revealed his top three T20I batters of the current era, naming South African wicketkeeper-batter Heinrich Klaasen, along with two Indian cricketers, Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. Raina also discussed the impact of these players, especially after the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma in 2024, highlighting the role of young Indian talents in the shortest format.

Raina, who debuted for India in 2005 and played 322 international matches, amassed 7,988 runs with seven centuries and 48 fifties. He was also a mainstay in the IPL, scoring 5,568 runs in 205 games. Known for his consistency and aggressive stroke play, Suresh Raina remains one of the most influential figures in Indian cricket.
On Shubhankar Mishra’s YouTube channel, Suresh Raina named Heinrich Klaasen, Abhishek Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav as the top three T20I batters of the current generation. He specifically praised Abhishek’s century in his last T20I against England in 2025, which saw him score 135 off 54 balls. Raina lauded Suryakumar for his wide range of shots and Klaasen for his rare six-hitting ability, calling them the top players globally at present.

Abhishek Sharma, who recently rose to the top spot in the ICC T20I rankings, has scored 535 runs in 17 T20Is at a strike rate of 193.84, including two centuries. His IPL stats are equally impressive, with 1,816 runs in 77 matches at a strike rate of 163.01.
Suryakumar Yadav has established himself as one of the best T20I batters, amassing 2,598 runs in 83 matches at a strike rate of 167.07, including four centuries. His IPL career has also been stellar, scoring 4,311 runs in 166 games at a strike rate of 148.65.

Heinrich Klaasen, retained by SunRisers Hyderabad for ₹23 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction, has scored 1,414 runs in 39 innings at a strike rate of 173.50, including two centuries and seven fifties. Despite retiring from international cricket earlier this year, Klaasen continues to be a force in T20 leagues.
Suresh Raina also spoke about the potential of Prithvi Shaw, expressing confidence that the young batter will make a triumphant return to the Indian team and IPL. Raina praised Shaw’s work ethic and talent, stating that the 24-year-old has learned from past mistakes and is improving his fitness.
