Delhi cricketer Yash Dhull has made a remarkable comeback to competitive cricket after undergoing heart surgery in 2024. The 22-year-old batter, once regarded as one of India’s brightest young prospects, sent a powerful message of resilience with a simple Instagram post that read, “Still here,” symbolising his determination to fight through adversity. Last year, doctors discovered a 17 mm hole in Dhull’s heart, a condition that required surgery and forced him to step away from the game.

Yet, in a stunning display of grit, he returned to professional cricket within months, proving his mental strength and passion for the sport. Yash Dhull’s comeback was highlighted by a magnificent 133-run knock for North Zone against East Zone in the Duleep Trophy in Bengaluru, helping his side secure a place in the semi-finals.

Reflecting on his journey, he admitted that the challenging phase taught him important life lessons. “The tough time taught me a lot about myself, my game, and my life. Now, I just enjoy my cricket, spend time on it, and it gives me a lot of happiness,” Yash Dhull shared.

During his recovery, Yash Dhull turned to snooker, which helped him sharpen his concentration and mental focus. “That game taught me to focus more when my mind was wandering,” he said.

Dhull has also showcased his white-ball prowess, scoring 435 runs in eight matches of the Delhi Premier League (DPL) at an average of 87 and a strike rate of 167. He believes tournaments like the DPL are crucial preparation for marquee domestic events like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy.
