Iceland Cricket once again grabbed headlines with their trademark humour on social media during the Asia Cup 2025. Known for witty banter with top teams, they cheekily tagged Pakistan as the “underdogs” ahead of their Group A clash against Oman on Friday, September 12, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Iceland Cricket wrote, “We will always support the underdog in cricket, and that is why we are fully behind Pakistan when taking on Oman today.” The tongue-in-cheek post quickly went viral, sparking plenty of laughs among fans.
But on the field, Pakistan let their cricket do the talking. Skipper Salman Ali Agha won the toss and chose to bat, though the start wasn’t ideal. Saim Ayub was dismissed on the first ball, and Sahibzada Farhan struggled with a run-a-ball 29.

However, Mohammad Haris lifted the innings with a stunning knock. The 24-year-old smashed 66 runs off just 43 deliveries, peppered with seven fours and three sixes, showcasing his growing stature in Pakistan’s T20 setup. Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Nawaz chipped in with handy cameos as Pakistan posted a challenging total.

For Oman, Shah Faisal and Aamir Kaleem fought hard, picking up three wickets each, but their batters couldn’t rise to the occasion. Chasing the target, only Hammad Mirza showed some resistance as Oman crumbled to 67 all out in just 16.4 overs. Pakistan’s bowlers dominated the second innings, with Ayub, Faheem Ashraf, and Sufiyan Muqeem bagging two wickets apiece.

In the end, Pakistan sealed a commanding 93-run victory, and Haris was deservedly named Player of the Match. While Iceland Cricket’s banter kept fans entertained, Pakistan reminded everyone why they remain a powerhouse in Asian cricket.
