Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi has once again stirred controversy with his social media activity. On Wednesday, Naqvi shared a video featuring Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, edited in a way that appeared to mimic an aircraft crash—an act many believe was intended to fuel the fire already sparked by Haris Rauf’s provocative gestures during Pakistan’s defeat to India.

The original clip actually showed Ronaldo explaining a free-kick goal, but Naqvi’s post took the striker’s actions out of context, twisting it into something far more controversial. Known for his repeated provocative remarks against India, Naqvi—who also serves as Pakistan’s Interior Minister and PCB Chairman—has drawn widespread criticism for his latest stunt.
Pakistan were already under the spotlight after Sahibzada Farhan’s AK-47-style celebration for his half-century and Rauf’s “air-crash” gesture towards Indian fans. The incidents overshadowed an otherwise competitive Super Four clash in the Asia Cup 2025.

Batting first, Pakistan posted 171/5 in 20 overs, with Shivam Dube striking twice while Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with a wicket each to keep them in check. But the celebrations were short-lived. India’s young guns made light work of the chase, sealing a six-wicket win with seven balls to spare at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Shame on BCCI for playing Asia Cup despite knowing that Mohsin Naqvi was chairman of ACC!!

Abhishek Sharma’s blistering 74 off just 39 deliveries set the tone at the top before Shubman Gill added a composed 47. Tilak Varma anchored the innings with an unbeaten 30, guiding India home comfortably.

While skipper Suryakumar Yadav fell for a duck and Sanju Samson managed only 13, Varma combined with Pandya, who finished on 7 not out, to wrap up the chase. The Men in Blue’s clinical display ensured that the on-field excellence outshone Pakistan’s off-field controversies, reinforcing their dominance in yet another high-voltage India-Pakistan clash.
