Choreographer and digital creator Dhanashree Verma has candidly revealed that her marriage to Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal faced serious challenges from the very beginning. Speaking on the reality show Rise and Fall, Dhanashree alleged that Chahal was involved in an extramarital affair just two months after their December 2020 wedding, describing the betrayal as a shocking blow.

Chahal and Dhanashree first connected during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020 when the spinner enrolled in her online dance classes. Their bond quickly grew, culminating in their wedding on December 22, 2020, in Gurugram. Despite the early spark, their marriage did not endure, and the couple eventually divorced. The Bandra Family Court, Mumbai, officially granted them a divorce on March 20, 2025.
During a conversation with fellow contestant Kubbra Sait, Dhanashree revealed that she realised the marriage was doomed within the first year. “First year. Caught him in the second month,” she said, sharing how discovering Chahal’s extramarital involvement early on made her question the future of their relationship.

Earlier on the show, Dhanashree addressed rumours regarding alimony, calling them false. Speaking to host Aditya Narayan, she emphasised that the divorce, finalized nearly a year ago, was mutual. “Officially, it has been almost a year. It happened quickly because it was mutual, that’s why when people say alimony, it’s wrong,” she stated. She added that she only discusses personal matters with those who truly matter to her, reflecting her desire to avoid public speculation.

Following the divorce, Chahal was spotted at the Champions Trophy final in Dubai with RJ Mahvash, sparking rumours of a romantic link. Mahvash, however, has consistently clarified that they are just friends.
On the Humans of Bombay podcast, Dhanashree shared how much effort she invested in the marriage, consistently supporting Chahal in both small and significant matters. “You have to put in an effort. I know how much I have stood up for my partner, and everybody has seen that. Maybe because of that, my emotions came out,” she said.

Professionally, Dhanashree is set to make her Telugu film debut with the dance-centric movie Akasam Daati Vastaava, after previously appearing in a Bollywood number in Bhool Chuk Maaf. Chahal, meanwhile, last represented India in August 2023 and was part of the 2024 T20 World Cup-winning squad, although he did not play any matches.
This candid glimpse into their personal lives highlights the challenges even public figures face behind the scenes, reminding fans that fame often comes with its own set of struggles.
