Jasprit Bumrah is widely regarded as one of India’s finest fast bowling exports, having already carved his place among the modern greats. Known for his unorthodox action and lethal accuracy, Bumrah consistently troubles batters across formats and conditions, making him an irreplaceable asset for Team India. His ability to deliver under pressure has earned him plaudits from cricket legends, with Virat Kohli famously describing him as a “once-in-a-generation player.”

Despite his remarkable talent, the 31-year-old pacer has faced ongoing criticism, primarily surrounding workload management. Having battled injuries earlier in his career, the Indian team management has been deliberate in monitoring his workload to prevent recurrences, such as the mid-series setback he suffered during the fifth Test against Australia in 2024-25.
Earlier this year, he played three out of five Tests in England, missing the series-deciding match at The Oval—a game India clinched narrowly on the final day. Manprit Juneja, who played alongside Bumrah for Gujarat, highlighted how such scrutiny can affect even top professionals.

“With him, he knows there is support from the coaches, the selectors, and the BCCI who are managing his workload,” Manprit Juneja told The Indian Express. “At the same time, when some former players question his integrity, it does affect him.”
Yet, Bumrah’s mental toughness ensures that he remains largely unbothered by external opinions. “Knowing him, he has always been a person who is strong mentally… so someone commenting about it or a random Twitter handle going after him isn’t going to affect him one bit. He is a thorough professional who understands how all of it works,” Juneja added.

Away from the cricketing spotlight, Bumrah focuses on family, friends, and leisure activities to recharge. He maintains close ties with friends from his housing society, often enjoying sports like pickleball and ten-pin bowling, or simply unwinding with video games.
“He knows how to keep himself away from the noise. If there is time, he will play pickleball or ten-pin bowling. If none of us are available, he just relaxes at his PlayStation Den,” Manprit Juneja said.

Above all, family remains Bumrah’s priority. “Since Angad came in, he has been his ultimate preference. He always puts his family first,” Juneja added, highlighting how the pacer balances elite-level cricket with personal life. This blend of professional discipline and off-field balance underscores why Bumrah continues to remain a cornerstone of Indian cricket.
