Legendary Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar left former West Indies pacer Ian Bishop momentarily speechless with a sharp observation during the second Test between India and the West Indies at Arun Jaitley Stadium, New Delhi. Noticing the lack of short-pitched deliveries in the early overs of the first innings, Gavaskar quizzed Bishop on why the once-feared Caribbean pace attack had not bowled a single bouncer.

“It’s been six overs with the new ball and not a single bouncer from the West Indies pacers. What is happening, Ian?” Sunil Gavaskar asked. “What happened to the West Indies pace attack?”

Gathering himself, Bishop added that deliveries like Gavaskar’s favourite bouncers could still come from Jayden Seales, giving the visitors’ bowling hope.

Indian openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul laid a solid foundation with a 58-run opening partnership before Rahul was dismissed for 38 by Jomel Warrican, thanks to sharp wicketkeeping from Tevin Imlach. Replacing Rahul, Sai Sudharsan steadied the innings and contributed significantly alongside Jaiswal, taking India to 94/1 at lunch on Day 1.
