Former India captain Rohit Sharma — known for his effortless power hitting — reportedly broke his own car during a practice session at the iconic Shivaji Park in Mumbai. A viral fan-shot video captured Rohit launching a massive slog sweep, and while the ball itself went out of frame, the fan recording could be heard saying, “Khud ki hi gaadi ko phod diya” (“He broke his own car!”).

The lighthearted clip quickly spread across social media, leaving fans amused and speculating whether the six actually landed on Rohit’s vehicle. Rohit Sharma, who has been away from international cricket for a while, is set to make his much-awaited return when India tours Australia for a white-ball series later this month.

The 37-year-old recently appeared at the CEAT Cricket Awards, looking noticeably leaaer and fitter — a transformation that has reignited discussions about his ODI future.

Reports suggest Rohit remains keen on representing India at the 2027 ODI World Cup, but his continued participation will depend heavily on his form and fitness in the upcoming months. With India’s ODI squad undergoing a gradual transition, the upcoming series could play a crucial role in determining Rohit’s long-term role in the format.

The Australia tour begins on October 19 with the first ODI at the Perth Stadium, followed by the second on October 23 in Adelaide and the final ODI on October 25 at the Sydney Cricket Ground. All eyes will be on Rohit as he aims to silence critics with his bat and reaffirm his place as one of India’s most reliable openers.
