Mohammed Siraj, India’s tireless fast bowler, was visibly drained on Day 4 of the second Test against the West Indies at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. After an intense spell of bowling under the scorching Delhi sun, Siraj was seen inside the Indian dugout receiving both a head and foot massage, with an ice pack placed on his head for relief.

The moment, captured on camera, quickly went viral on social media, highlighting the physical toll of his long bowling effort. Earlier in the day, Siraj delivered another crucial breakthrough when he dismissed West Indies centurion Shai Hope for 103.

Bowling a probing back-of-a-length delivery, Siraj induced a faint inside edge that deflected onto the stumps — a classic example of his persistence paying off. He celebrated the wicket with his trademark fiery gesture, signalling both relief and determination.

However, despite his efforts, India faced a stern test from the West Indies’ batting lineup. Captain Shubman Gill’s decision to enforce the follow-on after securing a 270-run lead came under scrutiny as the visitors showed unexpected resilience. John Campbell and Shai Hope stitched together a gritty 177-run stand for the third wicket, frustrating the Indian attack and erasing the deficit.

The pressure momentarily shifted back to India, but Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah turned the tide in the second session, triggering a dramatic collapse. Yet, the visitors’ lower order held firm, with Justin Greaves and Jayden Seales adding an unbeaten 50-run stand that carried the West Indies to 363/9 by tea.

For Siraj, the Delhi Test only added to what has been a phenomenal year. The 31-year-old pacer now leads the 2025 Test wicket charts with 37 scalps in just eight matches, surpassing Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani. His consistency across series — including 23 wickets in the Anderson–Tendulkar Trophy against England — has solidified his status as India’s pace spearhead. Siraj’s relentless energy, even when exhausted, embodies the spirit of India’s new-age fast bowling culture.
