Mohammed Siraj has once again proven why he’s among the most spirited characters in modern-day cricket. During the Tea break on Day 4 of the ongoing India vs West Indies Test in Delhi, the fiery Indian pacer was seen sharing a light-hearted moment with West Indies batter Justin Greaves. Siraj, despite his fatigue after long spells, jokingly warned Greaves not to score more runs after the latter was frustrating the Indian bowlers with a stubborn partnership alongside No. 11 Jayden Seales.

India’s bowlers have been pushed to their limits over the past few days. Following captain Shubman Gill’s decision to enforce the follow-on after gaining a massive 270-run lead, the bowling unit has shouldered the workload across nearly four days of continuous play. Mohammed Siraj, in particular, has bowled tirelessly — having featured in every match since the England tour, where he also shouldered the bulk of the bowling duties.
Despite his heavy workload, Siraj remained India’s most energetic figure on the field. Earlier in the day, he dismissed the in-form Shai Hope, who had anchored the West Indies innings with a composed century.

After his fiery spell, Siraj was seen in the dugout receiving head and leg massages — a clear sign of the toll the extended bowling sessions had taken on him. Yet, he returned rejuvenated and continued to bowl with the same aggression and intent that defines his style.

By Tea on Day 4, the West Indies were nine down, with Justin Greaves holding fort at one end. Siraj, visibly drained but still smiling, was seen telling Greaves not to score any more runs as the players returned to the field — a moment that quickly went viral among fans who adore Siraj’s infectious personality. Greaves, however, carried on valiantly, remaining unbeaten on 50*, helping the Windies post 390 in their second innings.

Siraj’s consistency throughout the series has been nothing short of remarkable. After his match-winning display in the England tour, where he was India’s highest wicket-taker, Siraj continued his rich form back home. He bagged seven wickets in the first Test at Ahmedabad and followed it up with three more in Delhi, finishing the series with 10 wickets — second only to Kuldeep Yadav, who picked up 12 scalps.
While John Campbell and Shai Hope’s centuries set up the fightback, contributions from Roston Chase, Justin Greaves, and Jayden Seales ensured that India would have to bat again. With the game heading into the final day, India now faces a tricky chase, and Siraj’s energy will once again be vital in ensuring a spirited finish.
