West Indies wicketkeeper Shai Hope pulled off a moment of brilliance on the final morning of the second Test in Delhi, taking a stunning one-handed catch to dismiss India’s promising youngster Sai Sudharsan. The sharp reflex catch in the slip cordon came off the bowling of West Indies skipper Roston Chase, giving the visitors a rare moment to celebrate early on Day 5.

India, however, continued to dominate the series, having already secured the opening Test in Ahmedabad and now cruising toward a 2-0 series win in New Delhi. Chasing a modest 121 in their second innings, India resumed play on the final day with just 58 runs required to seal the victory. Openers KL Rahul and Shubman Gill looked intent on finishing the game quickly, playing with positive intent in the first hour.

In the 29th over, Roston Chase produced a delivery that turned sharply after pitching on off stump. Sai Sudharsan, who had looked comfortable until then, went for a big drive but edged the dipping delivery. The ball flew to the right of first slip, where Shai Hope, showing lightning-fast reflexes, dived and completed a sensational one-handed grab — arguably one of the best catches of the series.

Despite the dismissal of Sudharsan for 39 and Gill shortly after, KL Rahul remained unbeaten, anchoring the innings with a calm and composed half-century. India crossed the finish line comfortably, wrapping up the match and the series 2-0, adding 12 crucial points to their World Test Championship (WTC) campaign. With this victory, India overtook Sri Lanka to move into second place on the WTC standings.

Under the new coaching reign of Gautam Gambhir, India’s Test side has made a strong start at home, setting a confident tone ahead of their next big challenge — the three-match Test series against South Africa scheduled for November-December.

For West Indies, despite the defeat, there were glimpses of resilience. Roston Chase led from the front with both bat and ball, while Hope and Justin Greaves showed commendable fight after the follow-on. Still, Chase’s leadership ended with an unwanted record — becoming only the second West Indies captain in recent history to lose all matches in a Test series against India.
